The Ski Champion Marcello Varallo
Native in the capital of Lombardia (Milano - 1947) by craftsman father and ladin mother he grew up in Val Badia, mother's native land. Comes to the important races after he studied for 3 years in Brunico at the Hotel School in order to prepare himself for the management of the Hotel Ladinia.
With 18 years Marcello wins in Bressanone the downhill and the giant of the zonal junior championships. With 20 years he enlist to the Finance guard, enters into national B and there he remains one year with success. From that time it began his adventure in the avalanche blue.
In the year 1970 he demonstrate his ability for the downhill at the World Cup in Val Gardena where he made the 5th place. In the year 1972 he made the 10th place at the downhill in Crystal Mountain and still the 10th place at the Olympic downhill of Sapporo. The good year of Marcello is the year 1973, 3rd place in the opening downhill in Val d'Isére, 10th place in Val Gardena, 2nd place in either tests of Garmisch and 5th place in Hahnenkamm Kitzbühel and concludes his best season in the World Cup making the 3rd place in the ranking of downhill.
